Texas Honors

Texas Honors is a 3 yo 14.2hh gelding that we have been loving here at Smokey Valley Farms. Don't let his size fool you, he has a stride and a motor as big as the lone star state! This smooth gaited beautiful gelding glides over trails with blazing speed covering more ground than your average trail horse.

Texas Honors requires a confident rider with a great seat and independent hands who has the ability to channel his forward drive to fully appreciate his natural born athleticism. While most people hear trail horse they think of the nose-to-tail horses who move along at a single pace, Texas Honors will show you a completely different trail experience. This kind of horse is finely tuned and responsive for challenging trails and competitive riding. Texas Honors is bred and trained for precision, stamina and versatility, ready to take on the most rugged terrain.

Performance Trail Horses, like Texas Honors, are often used in competitive trail riding or endurance events. Requiring athleticism, responsiveness, and a strong bond with an experienced rider. He is less about following the herd and more about navigating a more exciting trail ride with skill and speed.

Even though Texas Honors is a total Ferrai on the trails, he has an exceptional personality. There is not a bad bone in him, he stands for the farrier, trailers great, patient ground manners and comes right up to you at the mounting block. He has a willing to please mind while you're in his saddle where he will go as fast as you'll let him, but as soon as you say "Whoa" he will put on the brakes and wait for your direction.
