—SEDONA’S HISTORY—

For years, Sedona has been one of the most cherished mares on our farm. Her gentle nature, exceptional disposition, and outstanding mind made her everything we value in a Smokey Valley Horse. Those qualities are exactly why she became an important part of our breeding program and why so many of her offspring have gone on to become outstanding Smokey Valley Horses.

Sedona is also the proud dam of Texas Persuasion, one of our premier breeding stallions currently on the farm. His kind temperament, trainability, and exceptional mind are a testament to Sedona who raised him and why he remained a stud on our farm to continue passing down those awesom genes!

Today, Sedona’s breeding career is officially behind her. She has earned her retirement from motherhood and is being offered strictly as a riding horse and companion. We are not seeking a breeding home for Sedona. We are looking for the right family or individual who will appreciate her for the remarkable horse she is.

Sedona is not the fastest horse on the trail, and that’s exactly what makes her so special. She isn’t concerned with winning the race, she’s concerned with taking care of her rider.

She is the horse you trust with your children, your spouse, your grandchildren, grandparents, or the friend who is brand new to horses. She is steady, forgiving, patient, and honest.

Whether you’re looking for a reliable trail horse, a lesson horse, a confidence building partner, or just a great a horse you can ride and enjoy the scenery with, Sedona excels in all of those categories!

She rides quietly alone just with her rider or with a group and is happy at the front, middle, or back of the pack. She does not get anxious when other horses pass her or leave her, she is happy just going at her own pace. She confidently crosses water, logs, bridges, and rough terrain without hesitation. Sedona has also been used to pony other horses and handles the responsibility with the same steady, dependable attitude she brings to everything she does.

Most importantly, Sedona is as honest as they come. She has absolutely no buck, rear, bite, or kick in her and is the same gentle mare whether she’s being ridden, handled on the ground, groomed, or loved on in the barn. She genuinely enjoys people and thrives on attention.

She trailers great and loads/unload without hesitation, stands quietly tied, is excellent for the farrier and veterinarian, and is a complete lady for bathing, grooming, saddling, clipping and tacking. She is traffic safe and doesn’t give a second thought to any vehicles. Take her anywhere and she will get along well with other horses and is as drama free as they come.

At 19 years old, Sedona remains sound, healthy, and in excellent condition. She still has plenty of years left to help someone create wonderful memories in the saddle.

Finding the right home is our priority. Sedona has spent her life taking care of others, first as an exceptional riding horse, then as the mother of some outstanding Smokey Valley Horses. Now it’s her turn to be someone’s beloved riding companion and be taken care of like she deserves.
